About Abergavenny

Nestled on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park and close to the English/Welsh border, Abergavenny is a vibrant market town known as the ‘Gateway To Wales’.

Originally the site of a Roman fort, the town has plenty to do and see with the remains of a medieval stone castle just off the town centre.

It’s an ideal base for exploring the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park, Black Mountains and the Brecon & Monmouthshire Canal whilst just up the road is the Blaenavon World Heritage site and Big Pit mine.

A mecca for foodies, the town annually hosts the famous Abergavenny Food Festival which brings people from far and wide. There are also plenty of wonderful places to eat and drink when visiting the town including its own Vineyard. The town is also well stocked with independent shops and a busy market hall holding weekly markets selling everything from locally produced food and drink through to antiques. A short drive is the very popular town of Crickhowell which was voted the best place to live in Wales and Britain’s Best High Street in 2018.

Abergavenny has some excellent Primary schools, a secondary school, has a train station and is conveniently situated approximately an hour’s drive from Cardiff, Hereford and Bristol. All of this provides high quality lifestyles and tempts many to visit, relocate and stay in the area.
